We are already more than half way through the 2016 season, and it really looks like 2017 is just around the corner! NASCAR on July 27, unveiled the 2017 Xfinity season schedule.
From the update, there is a lot to expect from the upcoming season!
There will be seven night races including a three-race swing from Iowa Speedway (June 24) to Daytona (June 30) and Kentucky (July 7); and there will be two stand-alone road course races at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Road America by 3:30 p.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET, respectively.
We have had an exciting ride this season: new drivers, new crew chief, new sponsors and even debuting the Vroombrands #77 Car at New Hampshire in July, Obaika Racing expanded into a two-car Team.
Obaika Racing is geared up to take on the rest of the 2016 season and possibly the 2017 season may unveil even more of our Team.

This weekend T.J Bell and Matt Waltz are in high spirits for the race at IOWA. Bell wheels our Vroombrands 77 Chevrolet Car whilst Waltz will be returning to wheel our Vroombrands 97 Car.
The Obaika Racing team is acquainted with the twist and turns of this unique track as we have raced at IOWA International Speedway several times last season and once already this season.

IOWA, here we come!!!
It’s not the holidays yet, but Obaika Racing is having quite a treat with new drivers as we prepare for the upcoming Xfinity race! Making their Xfinity series debut, the Decker sisters, Paige and Claire, will be heating up the Iowa Speedway come Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 1:30pm ET.
Wisconsin bred Paige (age 23) and Claire (age 21), have been racing competitively for over 2 years. In 2015, Paige made her NASCAR debut in the Camping Truck series at Martinsville where she finished 30th. The following year she and sister Claire, both raced in the Truck series at Martinsville and both finished within the top 30 with Paige at 25th and Claire at 27th. This Sunday, the sisters will be racing for Obaika Racing, with Paige behind the wheel #97 and Claire taking on the new car #77 Chevrolet Camaro.
Obaika Racing is thrilled to have the Decker sisters on board and expects to blaze up the track at Iowa. Our team is always happy to take on new drivers and introduce the NASCAR universe to aspiring talent.

Experienced NASCAR driver, TJ Bell who has competed in the Sprint Cup, Trucks and Xfinity series, with over 10 top 25 finishes, will be making headway in Obaika Racing’s #97 on the Michigan International Speedway.
“We are happy to have TJ join us this weekend and with his vast experience, we are optimistic of a good finish” says Team owner, Victor Obaika.
Vroom Brands will be sponsoring the team once more.

The Obaika Racing Team had a memorable weekend at Talladega. Driver Peyton Sellers got through three crashes and finished in the 18th having started 40th. Peyton’s performance top 20 finish beat other rookies and earned him the Rookie of the Race.
The Winn Dixie 300 is the 9th race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and it came up on May 2, 2015. The Talladega Super Speedway is the longest in the series, known for its steep banking and unique start and finish line. Peyton did a great job, keeping a good pace and avoiding the crashes. At Talladega, you never know what will happen until you cross the finish line. The Whelen champion crossed the finish line successfully with a steady trail up from 40th to 18th giving team the best finish so far in the series. He was awarded Sunoco Rookie of the Race making the Talladega Super Speedway a memorable track for the team.
The team looks forward to more promising races in the series. Peyton is back at the drawing board, getting ready to do better in Iowa next week.

It’s been a week of exciting anticipation for the Obaika Racing Team since Monday’s breezy announcement of NASCAR Camping Truck and Whelen 2005 Champion, Peyton Sellers’ entry into the team.
It was a fantastic day at the Daytona International Speedway as the first African owned NASCAR team; Obaika Racing made her debut into the NASCAR XFINITY Series on Saturday, February 21st, 2015.
Just before the start of the race Obaika Racing Team Driver, Josh Reaume looked promising with his #97 Chevrolet Camaro, competing at the XFINITY Series as a rookie with no accumulated owner’s points or provisional points.
